Foley artists reproduce everyday sound effects that are added to film, video, and other media in post-production to enhance audio quality. Our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders got to experience the magic of making sounds for movies during their music classes.

Miss Reeves showed students a clip of an animated movie, instructing them to listen carefully for the sounds of each scene and decide which instruments might be used to make certain sounds. The students were focused and listened intently. Then, the class had a fun, lively and thought provoking discussion about which instrument could best be used. Every student was very excited and got the opportunity to prove why one instrument would be better suited to make a certain sound than another one. After the class decided on the instruments, Miss Reeves handed each student an instrument to play and had them individually practice to get their timing just right. Then, the class practiced several times, as a whole, while watching the clip. The result was a wonderful movie sound production in which our students provided each footstep, knock, wind sound, and crash!
Great job to our Foley Artists!
