This is the image for the news article titled Students can create, invent, tinker, explore and discover with MakerspaceThis week marked the official launch of our Makerspace here at Rattan! Ms. Adams and Ms. Hopper have worked hard to prepare the materials and the library schedule to make this happen. For those unfamiliar with Makerspace, it is a place where students can gather to create, invent, tinker, explore and discover using a variety of tools and materials. The goal is for students to think and problem-solve on their own, allowing them to "figure things out" without being led to a solution. Research shows this helps students to develop grit, determination, and the ability to think outside of the box. The long range goal of our Makerspace program is to lay the foundation for future learning, with a particular emphasis on making the connection to skills they will need for CTE (career and technology education) coursework at AHS. We'd like to thank our PTA and all of our parents for providing the support and means to get our Makerspace going!
