Students Wowed by Rotunda

Rattan's 4th grade recently took their much anticipated annual trip to visit the state capitol in Austin, Texas - one they wait for all year long! Charter buses were loaded bright and early at 5:30am and the adventure began! Once we arrived in Austin, we started traveling through time a the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. Here, students were able to connect with lessons they experienced in Social Studies class. They then walked a few blocks to the capitol building. We enjoyed lunch on the capitol lawn with the view of the breathtaking Capitol building right before our eyes. Next, we broke out into our homerooms. Students were able to visit the Texas Visitor Center while doing a mini scavenger hunt to further their knowledge of Texas history, tour the capitol grounds with a more advanced scavenger hunt, and go inside the Capitol building itself with a tour guide building upon the Texas History they've already learned. Inside the capitol building, students were able to visit the House of Representatives while touring.

Every teachers' favorite moment is when the students look up at the rotunda in the Capitol building in unison - their reactions are priceless. The trip is ended with dinner at CiCis Pizza before returning home. We would like to say a special THANK YOU to all of our chaperones who helped out and attended. We appreciate you!
